Smartphone Computer Chip Shortage

The world’s largest Smartphone Chip maker Qualcomm warns of smartphone Snapdragon chip shortage.

The company have said that some of its subcontracted manufacturers which it uses to build the “28 nanometre” chips couldn’t keep up with the growing demand and wouldn’t be able to satisfy chip needs until the end of the year.

Android and Windows-based phone’s makers that use the products will be impacted the most.

Steve Mollenkopf  Qualcomm’s chief operating officer,  confirmed that the problem has stemmed from Qualcomm underestimating the demand for it S4 Snapdragon chips.

Shares fell over 7% in after-hours trading following the announcement before making a partial recovery.
